Funeral home services for Catholic Medical Center Manchester

HILLSBORO, NH:  Lawrence “Larry” Gerard Collins, 65, of Hillsboro, NH passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH after a four year battle with cancer.

Larry was born on May, 20, 1957 in Boston, Massachusetts to Lawrence F. Collins (preceded) and Mildred T. Collins (Hicks) (preceded). He went to Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Wilmington, Massachusetts, and later on got his associates degree in electronics from Hesser College. He went on to work for AGFA Corporation where he was an Electrical Test Engineer for 20 years. Larry furthered his education into becoming a master electrician and worked at Ruger for the majority of his career.

On May 27th, 1989 Larry married Jeannie Collins (Lanceleve). One of Larry’s favorite stories to tell is how he met his wife. In 1984 Larry went to the disco and spotted a girl from across the dance floor. He tapped her on the shoulder and said “would you like to dance?” Jeannie replied “yes” and they danced all night. Before leaving, Larry asked Jeannie for her number. The closest thing to paper she could find was a matchbook, so she wrote her number down and handed it to him, he kept this matchbook for 34 years.

In 1989 Larry and Jeanie bought their first home in Goffstown where they resided for 15 years. During this time they were blessed with their daughter, Brittany Nervik (Collins). In March of 2004 they moved to Hillsboro where they lived together for 19 years.

Larry had a love for life and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and animals. One of the greatest joys of his life was the birth of his grandson, Christopher. Some of his hobbies included taking his daughter Brittany to car shows, going to the range to shoot and instructing gun safety, biking and walking nature trails. He also enjoyed going out and socializing, and made valued many friendships over the years. One, his childhood friend, Steve Napolitano. While in electrician school, he met another lifelong friend Scott, Turner. They shared many of the same interests, especially going to the range together. He also enjoyed trying new restaurants with his friend, Sean Fox. Larry’s favorite restaurant was Ollies, where he would often go to celebrate life events.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie, daughter, Brittany Nervik and husband, Christopher Nervik, and grandson, Christopher Nervik, Junior. He is also survived by his two sisters: Sandra Bailey and Barbara Croce, and his German Shepard, Ella. He is predeceased by his dogs Marley, Jazz, and Gary.
