HENNIKER, NH: Alice H. Norton, widow of J. Albert Norton, Jr., passed away December 23, 2022. She was born December 2, 1930 in Concord, NH to Oscar and Lillian (Morgan) Hanson. Alice grew up in Bow and graduated from Concord High School, Concord Commercial College and New England College. She moved to Henniker when she married Al in 1951.
Alice worked at New England College for many years. Alice was a real estate broker, and helped with the family Christmas Tree business. She enjoyed travel, visiting many states with the Elderhostel program and numerous countries. She and her husband enjoyed spending time with their son Joe in Idaho, visiting and fishing. They took their grandchildren to Yellowstone National Park and on day trips in New England.
Alice was a member of the Rebekahs, Eastern Star, Methodist and Congregational Churches of Henniker. She was on the Henniker Bicentennial Committee, a ballot clerk, Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and a Red Hat member.
She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Bill Watson, brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Betty Hanson, parents and stepfather, Norman Ordway. She is survived by her children, Candace Grendell and Joseph Norton, grandchildren, Tyler Grendell and Lacey Grendell, great grandchildren, Keegan, Phoebe and Niko, and nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held Sunday, March 19, at 2 pm at the Henniker Congregational Church, with a gathering to remember Alice and Al at the Country Spirit Restaurant from 3 to 5 pm.
