CONTOOCOOK, NH: Marjorie Carnes Peasley, of Contoocook, NH, passed away Saturday afternoon February 22, 2020, at Pleasant View Center in Concord, NH, after a long period of declining health.
Born June 19, 1927, in Concord, NH, she was the only child of the late Herbert and Irene Carnes of Contoocook, NH. She attended school in Hopkinton, NH. and graduated from Hopkinton High School.
She was a longtime member of the Riverside Rebekahs and was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Hopkinton since childhood. Marjorie enjoyed tending her plants and had quite a “green thumb.” She also enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, picture puzzles, was an excellent cook and enjoyed having her family around her.
Marjorie was predeceased by Raymond A. Peasley, her loving husband of more than sixty (60) years,her son, Gary R. Peasley on September 17, 1987, and her grandparents, Abraham and Addie Bell of Port Chester, NY. She is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife Donna Peasley of Henniker, NH, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and kindness provided by the doctors, nurses and staff at the Pleasant View Center in Concord; by the doctors, nurses and staff at the Concord Hospital; the Eucharistic Visitor of St. Andrews Episcopal Church who brought Holy Communion to Marjorie; and, most recently the nurses and hospice staff of the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at the Contoocook Village Cemetery in Contoocook, NH, in the Spring. The Holt Woodbury Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
