HOPKINTON, NH: Roger B. Keilig, of Hopkinton, passed away in the early morning of October 13, 2018 after living with cancer for many years. He was born on January 18, 1956 to Richard H Keilig, Sr. and Martha Margaret (Griffith) Keilig in Nashua, NH.
Roger grew up in the Monadnock region of NH. He graduated from Worcester PolytechnicInstitute and then continued his education at Carnegie Mellon University, receiving a graduate degree in Civil Engineering. Moving back to New Hampshire, he worked at several civil and environmental engineering firms before finishing his career with the NHDOT, District 2. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Roger was an active member of the First Congregational Church, UCC of Hopkinton, serving on both the Board of Deacons and Trustees. He especially enjoyed organizing the annual Easter Breakfast which followed the ecumenical sunrise service.
Roger was a charter member of the Hopkinton Rotary Club. While a member, he was a host dadfor numerous exchange students, a role he enjoyed. Roger loved all things that brought him outdoors, a love which he shared with his children. He was a lifelong beekeeper and a careful tree farmer. Roger was alsoan avid Boston sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carolyn (Hofacker) Keilig, and his three children, Pamela, Robert and Susanna, all of Hopkinton; a sister, Margaret Joyce Keilig of Wilton, NH, a brother, Richard H. Keilig, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Centerville, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on October 18th from 5 to 7 pm at the Holt Woodbury Funeral Home, 19 Hall Ave, Henniker, NH.
AMemorial Service will be held on October 19th at 2pm at the First Congregational Church of Hopkinton, 1548 Hopkinton Rd, Hopkinton, NH.
Gifts in Roger’s memory may be given to the First Congregational Church of Hopkinton or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.
