HAMPSTEAD, NH: Elizabeth F. Brickett 87 of Hampstead, NH died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Hillsboro House, Hillsborough, NH.
She was born in Candia, on December 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Perry E. Little, Sr. and Esther (Evans) Little, and was a lifelong resident of Hampstead.
Elizabeth (Betty, Pete) was a graduate of Hampstead High School, Class of 1948. She received her Registered Nurse Certification from Salem Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1951, a Bachelors of Arts Degree from New England College, Class of 1975 and a Masters of Education from New England College, Class of 1983.
She was a member of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Auxiliary and answered the Fire Department’s red phone from her home. She was a telephone operator, worked in several nursing facilities in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and assisted in the Tax Collector and Town Clerk’s office for the town of Hampstead. She was one of the first members of the Hampstead Mother’s Club, a lifelong member of the Hampstead Congregational Church, where she served on the Missions Committee, taught Sunday School, volunteered as Youth Director and as a teacher at Stepping Stones Nursery School.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald Brickett and his wife Carol of Kingston, Douglas Brickett and his wife Susan, and Daniel Brickett, all of Hampstead; her daughter, Rev. Janice Howe and her husband Rev. Peter Howe of Hillsborough; two sisters, Fran Russell and her husband John, of Middleborough, MA, Susan McGiven and her husband Fran, of Braham, Minnesota; one brother Perry E. Little, Jr. and his wife Anna Marie, of Middleborough, MA; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters Evelyn Hudson and Mary Kalitka.
A special thank you to all the staff at Hillsboro House who lovingly cared for our mother and appreciated her dry sense of humor. Services will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 1:00 pm at Hampstead Congregational Church, UCC, 61 Main St. Hampstead, NH.
