CONTOOCOOK, NH: Edith (Bergstrom) Carr 102, passed away December 24, 2017 after a short stay at Merrimack County Nursing Home. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was a resident of Contoocook for over 100 years. She marred Byron Carr, her high school sweetheart, and they raised a family in the house her father built.
She was a waitress for many years at the Eagle and Highway Hotels, and later at the Casserole in Hopkinton.
Edith loved family gatherings, cookouts, and enjoyed riding and fishing on the Contoocook River on the pontoon boat that her husband built.
She was predeceased by her husband Byron W. Carr, all her siblings, grandson and most of her friends.
Survived by a son, Byron Carr, and his wife Louise and two daughters, Dawn Hartwell and Carol Frost. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at 1 pm in the Contoocook United Methodist Church.
A private family burial will be held in the spring.
